The right candidate is an experienced veterinary technician with superb customer service skills. The ability to work well on a team as well as independently is a must.

Island Veterinary Care

We are a family run, two doctor, progressive hospital that provides very individualized, complete patient care and would like you to join our team! We emphasize preventative medicine, thorough diagnostic work up, as well integrative approaches such as acupuncture and laser therapy. We consider our clients and their pets more like good family friends. We are looking for a full time and/or part time veterinary technician. Veterinary technician students are welcome to apply. Licensed technician is preferred but not required. On the job training is provided.

Job description: List of responsibilities not limited to: Patient care and customer service are the top priorities. Patient restraint, history taking, client education, basic grooming (nail trim, ear cleaning, bathing, grooming/hair-cut, anal sac expression), walking dogs, administering medications and vaccines (orally, injection- IM/SQ/IV), placing IV catheters, phlebotomy, processing blood and urine tests, reading fecal tests, cytology and skin scraping, calculating drug dosages, monitoring anesthesia, surgical scrub nurse & assisting with surgical procedures, dental cleaning, sterilizing instruments, positioning patients for x-rays, ensuring hospital cleanliness, medical charting, answering the telephone, client call backs, inventory, inputting charges, ordering supplies, restocking and processing payment.

Desired work traits: Must be enthusiastic, motivated, a hard worker, self-starter, with an upbeat, can-do attitude. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is a must. We are looking for someone who is dedicated to help animals live longer, healthier lives. This person thrives in a fast-paced environment and has excellent follow through.

Salary: Commensurate upon experience, licensure and performance

– Licensed RVT, CVT, LVT, license/diploma from VTNE: $15-25/hr plus benefits

– Non-licensed veterinary assistant: $13-20/hr plus benefits

Kailua Animal Clinic is a growing 5 doctor practice in the heart of Kailua Town and are looking for veterinary assistants/technicians.

Our ideal candidate will have a high level of professionalism and respect in all areas of the workplace with the utmost attention to detail. Position duties will include but are not limited to: Taking patient histories/weights/vitals, filling medications, animal restraint, blood draws, placing catheters, monitoring anesthesia, preparing/reading lab samples, animal cleanup duties/feeding/giving of medications, cleaning/re-stocking supplies, radio graphs, and of course assisting the doctors with any/all required tasks.
